Lower voting age

Lowering the voting age to 16 would be a SIP as surveys have indicated that youth are more inclined to vote for parties with "better" climate policies. Further, this would incentivise politicians to consider the interests of youth when developing policies and their electoral platforms. It would create a further feedback of engaging more youth, as many do not look into politics until they are able to vote. The Lancet Commission on adolescent health noted that adolescents are developmentally mature enough to vote at age 16. This would simply be extending the right to vote to those who will be most affected by our choice of policies.
